Denver, CO January 14, 2009 ScholarCentric, provider of the highly successful Success Highways resiliency building dropout prevention program, is pleased to announce its partnership with America’s Promise Alliance, the nation’s largest multi-sector collaborative dedicated to the well-being of children and youth. Founded in 1997 by General Colin Powell, America’s Promise Alliance, works with its partners to initiate programs which ensure that school children experience the fundamental resources they need to succeed. As part of this partnership, Scholarcentric plays an integral part in achieving the Alliance’s goal of reaching 15 million young people in the next five years.
“The Success Highways program clearly fits the goals of America’s Promise Alliance,” states Steve Weigler, CEO and cofounder of ScholarCentric. “This research based, teacher driven program consists of curriculum, professional development and unique validated assessments. Aligned with each states’ curriculum standards and especially focused on the high school transition years, it is being used with excellent results in large urban classroom environments.”
Alliance partners include corporations, nonprofit service organizations, foundations, policymakers, advocacy organizations, and faith groups that work collaboratively to ensure that America’s young people receive the Five Promises Caring Adults, Safe Places, A Healthy Start, Effective Education, and An Opportunity to Help Others. As part of its commitment to Effective Education, the Alliance has scheduled over sixty Dropout Prevention Summits across the United States in 2009, with more in the planning stages.
