ScholarCentric’s Success Highways™ Selected by Mosaica Education for
Pilot Program at the Denver Arts & Technology Academy

Resiliency skills training to be incorporated with Mosaica’s acclaimed
Paragon® interdisciplinary curriculum emphasizing strong basic skills
and extensive use of technology

DENVER – October 29, 2007 – ScholarCentric is pleased to announce that Mosaica Education has selected Success Highways for implementation at the Denver Arts & Technology Academy (DATA). DATA will be the first of Mosaica’s 36 nationwide charter schools to pilot the Success Highways program with its students in grades seven and eight. The core program at DATA includes essential courses in reading, writing, and math, which are enriched by the award-winning Mosaica Paragon program, currently being used in nine states. Paragon uses a “hands-on” approach for learning history, geography, and social studies as it engages students by including music, dance, and art as part of the study. In addition, computer and technology applications are woven into every aspect of the curriculum.

Dr. Ray Griffin, chief administrative officer of DATA, finds the lessons and values explored in the Success Highways program to be very complementary to the Paragon curriculum. “Our students are exposed to new ways of thinking and doing every day,” states Griffin. “They learn connected networks of knowledge, skills, beliefs, and attitudes that are useful both in and outside of school. Through the Success Highways program, we will be able to support and reassert to students the significance and meaningfulness of their education, and provide them with the resiliency skills necessary for a demanding college preparatory environment.” Authorized by the Denver Public School District and managed by Mosaica Education, Inc., DATA has been a model of excellence since opening in 2000 and is a school of choice for families from a wide area within the school district.

Success Highways is ScholarCentric’s cornerstone product, combining innovative curriculum, technology-based assessment, and effective teacher training to help all students stay in school, score higher on achievement tests, and become better prepared for college and work. Aligned with K-12 content standards in all 50 states, Success Highways is easily integrated into the existing curriculum. “Working with DATA and the Mosaica Education team on this pilot project has been a great experience for us,” relates Steve Weigler, CEO of ScholarCentric. “Paragon uses an integrated interdisciplinary approach that enables students to see all subjects as part of their lives, rather than as separate, often daunting disciplines. Success Highways lessons support this approach by providing students with resiliency skills that enable them to cope with academic challenges as well as those of daily life.”
