How Does Success Highways Work?

1. Pre-Assess with Revving Up
The Revving Up questionnaire contains 108 questions and covers six major areas: setting goals, levels of confidence, connections to others, stress, feelings of well-being, and motivation. Completed questionnaires are then converted to bar graph reports for each student, tapping into their visual skills. The individual student’s responses are compared with those of a large group of similar students. This data and bar graphs are the core of the Success Highways curriculum.

2. Teach fifteen 45-minute lessons
Success Highways provides standards-aligned lessons designed to build the essential resiliency skills research has shown are necessary for students to:
Learn how to set goals
Increase academic confidence
Manage academic stress
Improve overall well-being
Strengthen connections with teachers and other students
Spark academic motivation

Students are encouraged to participate in class by using white boards to facilitate group work. Each student completes a personal journal called My Success Roadmap where they record their thoughts and build their personal success plans.

3. Post-Assess with Moving On
At the end of the 15 lessons, students respond to a final questionnaire called Moving On. The data collected from the first questionnaire and the last questionnaire is analyzed, and the school receives a report showing the measurable difference before and after participating in Success Highways.
