OUR EXPERTS V. Scott Solberg, PhD. Dr. V. Scott Solberg is currently the Assistant Director in charge of research at the Center for Education and Work at the University of Wisconsin, Madison School of Education. He is an active member of the Society for Vocational Psychology of the American Psychological Association and a member of several international psychology associations. Dr. Solberg is currently the chair of the American Psychological Association's Coalition for Psychology in Schools and Education. He has published more than 20 empirical and theoretical articles relevant to youth development and academic success, including numerous articles pertaining to the Success Highways program. Ivory A. Toldson, PhD. Dr. Ivory A. Toldson is an Associate Professor of Educational Psychology at the Howard University School of Education. He is the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Negro Education, a Senior Research Analyst for the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation and author of "Breaking Barriers: Plotting the Path to Academic Success for School-Age, African American Males." Dr. Toldson specifically focuses on consulting with our educational partners on RTI Tier II and Tier III extensions of the Success Highways educational pedagogy. Reg WeaverMr. Weaver is the past President of the National Education Association and works with front-line educators to increase their comfort, understanding and motivation in using the Success Highways educational framework. Mr. Weaver is a former middle school teacher and a recent recipient of the Augustus “Gus” Hawkins Award for Excellence in Education. Mr. Weaver has been described as “a passionate advocate for quality education and for providing solutions to problems that plague schools that serve the poor and minorities.” Mr. Weaver provides kick-off events to get educators ready and engaged in instituting the Success Highways program. As a Professional Development/Planning Specialist, Ms. Thurston helps dozens of Success Highways educators plan for and utilize data and curricular components to determine how Success Highways fits into literacy and dropout prevention issues. Ms. Thurston recently retired as the Director of Dropout Prevention for the Broward Public Schools in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. She has experience as a teacher, department head, curriculum coordinator, project manager, and assistant principal. Ms. Thurston has developed and managed programs targeting tens of thousands of Broward County at-risk youth. |
